Three whole days off!! We were so excited, there were so many things that we could do: go to the coast, go to the river, just sleep in and relax, watch football, do NOTHING!!! But nooooo, we had to finish getting the old store ready to turn back over to the landlord, and weed. It's been so hot I have not felt like doing anything but go from my air conditioned house to my air conditioned car to the air conditioned store and back every day. So we've finally got weather comfortable enough to just be out in it and I'm weeding. Then John decides to go a head and plant the plants that keep getting shifted around because I'm not yet sure where I want them to go, which means adding new shoots off the sprinkler drip system.
Two days down, 1 to go...I'll keep you posted.
While I was weeding, I was turning over all kinds of ideas that throughout the years I have learned and figured the one I'd pass on this week was on book binding.
When you are making your own book or album, metal rings are easy to use but binding with fabric, tulle, or ribbon adds that something extra to any project. It's tempting to simply tie the ribbon through the holes as tight as possible so it won't come apart, but you will have trouble opening the book to look at it. To ensure your book will open properly after binding, insert a pen or marker, using it as a spacer when tying your binding. Once all the strips have been tied, slide the pen out. this will create enough give for the book to open and lay flat yet you'll have a nice uniform look to your binding. Oh, and if you wait until you've completed the pages to your project before binding it, it will be that much easier!
I look forward to your comments!
